In this sense, AMD has worked well in offering a solution that allows the OS to see the monitors connected to the outputs as one single monitor with a bigger resolution. This was done in a driver level, so that a game, in order to support the ATI Eyefinity technology, only has to allow bigger resolutions to work.

Thanks to the driver support, it’s also possible to create group of displays that the Operating System sees as one single display. All the new features can be found on the new version of the Catalyst Control Center that was introduced by AMD last summer.

    Card Layout  - Part 2

At a first glance, the card is exactly the same as the previous HD4870 model, except for the stickers on the heatsink cover. The PCB is the classic red-colored one found on most ATI models, almost completely covered with a heatsink made completely in copper, with a big plastic cover and the 70mm fan.

Analyzing the card on detail, it’s clear to see that the back part of the card has differences on how the components are disposed, and we can also see the 8-pin connectors instead of the 6-pin ones. The outputs are the classic ones, 2 DVI-I and an S-Video, while on the top part there are 2 connections for the CrossFire.

XFX’s bundle features a DVI-HDMI connector, the Crossfire ridge, the molex adaptor, a driver CD and the Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X CD game.
